Xin is the man known to us all as the famous Urban Ninja. His demo video has accumulated over 21 million views and remains as one of the most viewed videos in YouTube history (number 66 to be exact).
After a short career in street fighting and underground cage fighting, Xin, knowing he was destined for greatness, founded and developed “Evolved Monkey Combat”, the company behind the “Urban Ninja” film.
EMC was created in 2001 for the sole purpose of entertaining the masses through martial artistry. Breaking away from the traditional punch/kick demos of yesterday, Evolved Monkey Combat emphasizes live action combat. With the perfect mix of fantasy choreography, bone breaking stunts, comedic scenarios and total disregard for their own safety, they had found the formula for success!! Borrowing from the theory that man evolved from apes, Xin believed he and his brothers descended from monkeys instead. Nimble, mischievous and fun loving, they were a new breed of martial artist, all of the old school mojo…with a splash of new school attitude.
In 2004, EMC swept across college campuses, festivals, and parades gaining notoriety but still only within the boundaries of southern California. It wasn’t until the mega hit video “Urban Ninja” hit the internet did EMC begin to gain worldwide attention. Then it was hit after hit with “Rooftop Duel”, Monkey Magic”, “the Phone Call”. It seemed the fans just couldn’t get enough of EMC. Fan mail would pour in from all over the world. The U.S., Germany, England, Australia, South East Asia and more. Like a virus, EMC had quickly spread and infected millions of people. And the way things are going for them, it seems there will be millions more to come.
His website ends with a note that we felt compelled to share with you, a humble note of inspiration and dedication. “Now you know pieces of my story. A kid who came from nothing. A kid who had a dream. A kid who gave it all but never gave up. Go be that kid. And maybe one day, I will read your story.”
